The Laurel Valley Golf Course and the 318-turn Tail of the Dragon roller coaster are both within 11 miles.
A common occurrence during rush hour on the Little River in Townsend is for innertubes to become immobilized. Aside from special events, that’s as packed as it gets in this small mountain village, which is precisely why so many people visit there. Tuckaleechee Caverns could be an interesting excursion during your trip. Tuckaleechee Caverns was originally dubbed “the Greatest Sight Under the Smokies” by the editor of a local newspaper. The private attraction has been in operation since the 1950s, and is now managed by the second generation of the same family. One of the best public caverns in Tennessee, it is now a popular tourist destination in the Great Smoky Mountains. The out-and-back distance of 1.25 miles through the caves is covered in roughly an hour on a guided tour.
