With a stunning burnt cedar and metal outside and a spectacular timber green mid-century modern interior that puts this home into a class of its own, the build execution is first-rate. The pair can live in this tiny house fully off the grid and run their wedding photography company from home full-time thanks to an outstanding solar array and rainwater collecting system.

The owners of this beautiful little home were motivated to create it after watching a youtube channel that gave them the idea. Together, they decided that living more simply, with fewer possessions, a smaller carbon footprint, and access to more land was the best course of action. The surrounding land is really stunning, with lots of greenery and stunning views from every angle. Even a kangaroo can be seen hopping by in the footage. The small house features a pretty outstanding solar power setup, which is ideal for the couple living and working there full-time. A large portion of the little house was constructed by hand. A professional builder started the house, but the couple ultimately completed it themselves with the aid of their friends.

Starting with the external black metal that matches the shou sugi ban timber paneling, the little house’s construction components are really striking. To avoid distractions, the pair kept the decor monochromatic. Once inside, the wood and design aesthetic draw you in. Every piece of cedar on the exterior was burned by Chris, one of the owners, by himself.
