When you try to book a reservation at the LightHotel by Alchemy Architects, you’ll be checking not only the current price, but also the current location.
Yes, this teeny-tiny mobile hotel is on the go. It may be found all across Saint Paul and Minneapolis. It is currently located in Saint Paul’s Creative Enterprise Zone as of this writing.
We appreciate the way the architects describe this concept on their website, so I’ll directly quote them. “This movable hotel room moves as the flow of the city dictates, inhabiting both celebrated and disregarded places,” Alchemy writes. Its lobby is the city itself.”
Its spray foam shell provides the insulation it needs for Minnesota winters, and it is built inside an 8′ x 20′ shipping container.
The floor is heated and the doors and windows are triple glazed. Air conditioning is provided throughout the warmer months, and it is powered by solar panels. LEDs are used for lighting because they are energy efficient.
The entire appearance and feel is very modern and simple. The shipping container concept is complemented with a slight industrial vibe.
It’s very fascinating to think that you could come Minneapolis and Saint Paul again and again and stay in the same comfy hotel, but see a different area of the city each time.
Available for rent at AirBnb.
